Thanksgiving Day Tragedy in Newalla Leaves One Dead, Suspect in Custody

NEWALLA, Okla. — The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office has shared updated information regarding a tragic incident that took place on Thanksgiving Day, resulting in the loss of James Thomas and the arrest of 44-year-old Dustin Foley.

 

According to officials, deputies responded to a home in Newalla after receiving reports of a serious disturbance. When they arrived, they discovered Thomas with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts at the scene, he did not survive.

 

Soon after, investigators identified Foley as the primary individual involved. Authorities located him at a rural residence in eastern Cleveland County, where he was taken into custody without further conflict. He is now being held on a first-degree murder complaint, pending further investigation and review by prosecutors.

 

The Sheriff’s Office noted that the inquiry is still active as detectives work to piece together the events that led to the tragedy. Additional details have not yet been released.

 

The heartbreaking turn of events has deeply saddened many in the community, especially on a holiday meant for gathering and gratitude. Friends, neighbors, and loved ones are left coping with the sudden loss while hoping for clarity as the investigation moves forward.
