Newport News Police Identify Woman Found Along Jefferson Avenue

NEWPORT NEWS — Authorities have released the identity of a woman discovered early Wednesday morning along a sidewalk, and a man is now facing charges connected to the incident.

 

According to officials, just before 3:15 a.m., emergency responders were called to the 4500 block of Jefferson Avenue, near the intersection of Jefferson and 45th Street. When officers arrived, they located 55-year-old Denna Marshay Williams, of Norfolk, who was unresponsive. Despite immediate attention, she could not be revived.

 

As the investigation moved forward, police identified 63-year-old Andra Leman Austin, a Newport News resident, as the individual believed to be involved in the situation. He was taken into custody and is facing a serious charge related to Williams’ passing.
