Hardin County Releases Names of Victims as Investigation Moves Forward

HARDIN COUNTY, Texas — Officials have released the names of the two individuals who lost their lives during an early-morning incident on Sunday. The victims have been identified as 36-year-old Henry Carey Jr. and 29-year-old Khalil Ahmadrian Gooch, both from Kountze, leaving families and community members grieving an unexpected and painful loss.

 

According to Hardin County Sheriff Mark Davis, authorities have moved forward with charges against two individuals believed to be connected to the case. 22-year-old Deontray Deshunn Carey Jr. of Beaumont and 21-year-old Kenny Ray Johnson of Baytown are each facing two first-degree charges related to the incident. Officials say both men were taken into custody as investigators continue gathering details and reviewing evidence.
