Greenville Teen, 18, Identified as Victim in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on State Route 41 in Miami County

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A devastating tragedy unfolded Monday afternoon in Miami County when 18-year-old Storm Domingo Mote, of Greenville, lost his life in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 41, between Troy and Covington. The heartbreaking incident has left family, friends, and the entire Greenville community in shock and mourning, grieving the loss of a young man whose life was filled with promise, warmth, and potential.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), troopers were called to the scene just after 3 p.m. on October 27, 2025, following reports of a serious collision involving two vehicles. Preliminary investigations indicate that Mote was driving a sedan traveling along State Route 41 when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle collided head-on with a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.

Emergency responders from multiple agencies — including the Covington Fire Department, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, and CareFlight — rushed to the scene. Despite their best efforts, Storm Mote succumbed to his injuries at the crash site. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The roadway was closed for several hours as investigators worked to reconstruct the crash and gather evidence. Officials have not yet determined what caused the vehicles to collide, but speed, weather conditions, and driver distraction are all being reviewed as possible contributing factors.

As news of Storm’s passing spread, tributes began pouring in from across the Greenville community. Friends and classmates described him as a kindhearted, spirited young man with an infectious smile and a love for life that brightened every room he entered.

“Storm was one of those people who could make anyone laugh,” said Eli Thompson, a close friend. “He cared deeply about his friends and family. He was always the first to help and the last to complain. It’s so hard to believe he’s gone.”

Family members expressed unimaginable grief over the loss of a son and brother whose future was just beginning. “Storm had dreams of building a good life for himself,” a family member shared. “He was full of ambition, humor, and love — the kind of person who made people feel special. He’ll never be forgotten.”

The Greenville High School community, where Mote graduated last spring, also released a statement offering condolences and support to his family. Counselors are being made available for students and staff struggling to cope with the news. “Storm was a bright young man with a big heart,” the statement read. “Our hearts go out to his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

A makeshift memorial has since formed near the crash site, where flowers, candles, and handwritten messages now line the roadside in remembrance of the teen. Friends gathered there Monday evening to hold a candlelight vigil, sharing memories of Storm’s humor, generosity, and boundless energy.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash, urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the Piqua Post for additional information.

As his loved ones prepare to say their final goodbyes, the community remains united in grief — holding onto the memory of an 18-year-old whose kindness, laughter, and light touched so many lives.

Rest in peace, Storm Domingo Mote. Gone too soon, but never forgotten. Your spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who love you.
