GIN GIN, QLD — A man has tragically lost his life following a devastating two-vehicle crash in Takilberan, just north of Gin Gin, on the night of October 31, 2025.

According to the Queensland Police Service (QPS), the fatal collision occurred around 9:23 p.m. at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Duckpond Road. Emergency services were called to the scene after reports that two trucks had collided, resulting in one of the vehicles erupting into flames.

Despite swift efforts from first responders, one of the drivers — a man in his 40s — was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has not yet been publicly released, as police continue the process of notifying his family.

The driver of the second truck, a 25-year-old man from Logan Reserve, was transported to Bundaberg Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police confirmed that he is cooperating with investigators as they work to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash.

The impact and subsequent fire forced the closure of the Bruce Highway in both directions overnight, causing significant traffic delays. Authorities advised motorists to avoid the area while emergency crews worked to extinguish the fire, recover the vehicles, and clear the debris. The highway was expected to reopen later in the afternoon on November 1.

Members of the Queensland Forensic Crash Unit remain on the scene and have launched a full investigation into the cause of the tragedy. Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has relevant dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward to assist with inquiries.

The fatal accident has deeply saddened the local community, with residents of the Gin Gin region expressing condolences to the victim’s family and gratitude to the first responders who worked tirelessly through the night.

Police have urged all motorists to remain vigilant on the roads, particularly along regional highways where visibility and conditions can change rapidly, reminding the public that every life lost on Queensland roads is one too many.
