Fort Wayne Community Reacts After Downtown Fatal Shooting
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Allen County Coroner has released the identity of a man who tragically lost his life in a downtown incident on Tuesday evening.
Authorities confirmed Friday that the victim was 45-year-old Scott Reed Armstrong, a Fort Wayne resident. The coroner has classified his death as a homicide.
According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers were called to a gas station near the intersection of East Washington Boulevard and Clay Street after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, Armstrong was found suffering from multiple injuries. He was immediately transported to a local trauma hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Law enforcement reports indicate that Armstrong succumbed to several gunshot injuries, and his death is under official investigation.
Police identified a suspect in connection with the incident as 34-year-old Domonique Drew. He was taken into custody just hours after the event and currently faces a preliminary charge of murder.
