Alexandria Man, 57, Identified as Victim in Fatal Oxon Hill Crash Early Sunday Morning

OXON HILL, Md. — The community is heartbroken following the tragic loss of 57-year-old Percell Jerome Veney Jr., of Alexandria, Virginia, who lost his life in a devastating car crash early Sunday morning in Oxon Hill. The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) confirmed his identity on Monday, as friends, family, and loved ones began mourning a man remembered for his warmth, kindness, and devotion to those around him.

According to PGPD investigators, the fatal crash occurred just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in the 6300 block of Oxon Hill Road. Officers and emergency responders were called to the scene following reports of a serious single-vehicle collision. Upon arrival, first responders discovered Veney suffering from critical injuries. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that Veney was traveling along Oxon Hill Road when, for reasons still under review, his vehicle left the roadway and struck a fixed object. Authorities have not yet released information on what may have caused the crash, but the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate, seeking to determine whether factors such as speed, weather, or mechanical issues played a role.

As news of his passing spread, those who knew Veney described him as a man of integrity, compassion, and strength — someone who always put others before himself. Friends say he was known for his contagious laugh, his generosity, and his ability to make people feel at ease no matter the situation.

“Percell was one of those rare people who could walk into a room and instantly make everyone feel better,” said longtime friend Marcus Hall. “He was dependable, humble, and had a heart of gold. Losing him like this is just devastating.”

Family members have expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss, remembering him as a loving father, brother, and friend who always cherished time with his loved ones. “He loved life and lived it to the fullest,” said a family spokesperson. “Percell worked hard, cared deeply for his family, and had a spirit that inspired everyone around him.”

Community members from both Alexandria and Oxon Hill have been leaving messages of condolence and flowers near the crash site, turning it into a small memorial to honor his life. Many who knew him through work and church have shared stories of how Veney quietly helped those in need — whether it was offering advice, lending a helping hand, or simply listening without judgment.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant information to contact the PGPD Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at 301-731-4422.

As the investigation continues, loved ones are focusing on remembering the man behind the tragedy — a man whose compassion, humor, and resilience left a lasting mark on everyone he met.

Percell Jerome Veney Jr. is gone far too soon, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him most.

Rest in peace, Percell — your kindness, laughter, and spirit will never be forgotten.
