EDINBURG, Texas — Authorities in Hidalgo County have announced charges against three men following a troubling incident in which a 43-year-old man was discovered unresponsive outside his residence near Edinburg. The situation, which unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, has left the community seeking answers as officials continue to piece together what happened.
The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Israel Samilpa, Enriquez Cavazos Salainz, and Jose Estreda. The trio appeared before a judge on Wednesday afternoon, where each was issued a bond of $1.5 million. Officials stated that the charges are connected to the circumstances surrounding the man’s passing.
According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched shortly after midnight to a home in the 23700 block of Calle Guillermo. Upon arrival, they found Roberto Carlos Ornelas, 43, lying on the property and in urgent need of assistance. Emergency responders immediately attempted life-saving efforts before transporting him to a nearby hospital.
Despite the quick response, Ornelas could not be revived. His loss has deeply affected those who knew him, and the investigation has moved swiftly as authorities work to understand the events that led to this moment.
