DELMAR, Del. — Delaware State Police are continuing an investigation into a serious roadway incident that occurred in Delmar and resulted in the loss of a young man earlier this month.
Authorities say the incident took place on December 19 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Investigators reported that a Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound along Bacons Road, just beyond Bi State Boulevard, when it approached a left-hand curve. For reasons still under review, the vehicle departed from the roadway, made contact with a nearby utility pole, and subsequently overturned several times.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident was reported. Despite their efforts, officials later confirmed that the driver, identified as 24-year-old Tyler Wright of Delmar, did not survive.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation and working to determine the factors that may have contributed to the crash, including road conditions, vehicle speed, and other possible circumstances. Authorities have not released additional details at this time and say the investigation remains ongoing.
Community members are mourning the loss of Tyler Wright, remembering him as a young life taken far too soon. Police are reminding drivers to remain cautious on rural roadways, especially when navigating curves, and say more information will be shared as it becomes available.
