A person sought in connection with a serious case from Upstate South Carolina has been located and taken into custody more than 300 miles away in eastern North Carolina, bringing a significant search to a close.
According to officials, Lekeyia Petteway was detained on December 18 after investigators received information indicating she was staying at a residence along Evans Street in Beulaville, a small community in Duplin County, North Carolina. Acting on that information, local officers moved swiftly to confirm her location.
The Beulaville Police Department, working in coordination with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Criminal Apprehension Team and agents from the SBI Coastal District, responded to the home. After confirming that Petteway was inside the residence, officers made contact and safely took her into custody without any reported complications.
Petteway was being sought on active bench warrants issued in Greenville County, South Carolina, connected to multiple serious allegations involving harm and endangerment. Officials emphasized that the arrest was carried out calmly and without incident, highlighting the effectiveness of interagency cooperation across state lines.
